J is now officially a Teenager!

We now officially have two teenagers in the house! It’s a cool thing.

August 8, 1999 was one of the most terrifying days of my life. I gave birth to this beautiful baby boy, who immediately, before I could even hold him, turned purple and was whisked off for treatment and then rushed to a speciality neonatal care unit in another hospital 30 minutes a way.  It was terrifying.

The next four days were stressful, but then we got to hold him and bring him home. My baby boy.

So many stories I could tell, but I rarely do. J has a special place in my heart. I can’t think of him without smiling. My world is so much duller without him around.

I just can’t possibly imagine what my life would have been like without this funny, sensitive, moody, thoughtful, inquisitive young man.

He’s taught me much. Such a different person from his older sister, and just as cool, in his own way.  In fact, he’s just one of the coolest people I know.

And yet, I realize I don’t share him as much with you as I probably should. So I’ll endeavor to do better. He’s a teenager now. I guess I can’t keep him all to myself anymore :)

He sounds like a kid to be proud of!

I will be the mother of a teenager very soon and it’s kind of freaking me out. Not that she’s acting any differently–she is still her wonderful sweet self! It’s just that time got away from me somehow and I’m in shock at how fast the time passed!

Found your blog on the NBTS blog hop, by the way.

Isn’t it crazy how fast time goes by?! I freaked out when J turned 10, knowing I only had two more years to lay in a foundation, but oh, I am thankful for who he is and our relationship. He has his moments as we all do, but I wouldn’t trade him for the world!
